Andrew has extensive experience in Wealth Management Sales, including portfolio management and asset allocation, investment consulting, investment communications, team leadership, sales management and training and development.
Andrew's last role managing the Business division at a local bank in Myanmar. Prior to that he was managing a team of 6 Private Bankers covering Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Singapore and several European clients, where they managed 600 MM and generated revenues of close to 4 MM USD. He was based in Singapore from 2006 - 2013 and has been traveling to Asia for personal reasons since 1993.
Prior to Yoma Bank and Bank of Singapore, Andrew was at ANZ where he had both Regional Product responsibilities, which included developing the “ house view” and educating the sales force of the views and the related products to invest in those views. Prior to this role, he led a team of bankers covering North Asia, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.
Prior to ANZ, Andrew was with UBS AG for nearly 7 years; in Singapore as an Executive Director and Investment Consultant, Sales Manager and Desk Head. As a Sales Manager, he developed sales strategies and resources and coached management on improving the quality of sales for more than 60 Billion is assets under management and 300 MM USD in revenue. As a Financial Adviser at UBS Financial Services in New York City, Andrew developed his own book of clients and recommended investment solutions.
Andrew joined the Morgan Stanley full time associate training program, only to be impacted by 9/11. After being chosen by Banc of America securities he move UBS Wealth Management after Banc of America Securites terminated their program following the Elliot Spitzer indictment for late trading of mutual funds.
Andrew has an insiders perspective on the Finance and Wealth Industry both through his own direct experience and the many relationships he has in Finance, at Hedge Funds, Investment Banks, Asset Management firms, Banks, Family Offices, etc.
Andrew has been a client first advocate, and deliver an exceptional client experience that uses creative and well considered solutions to identify a clients needs and match them with a portfolio that performs in a manner consistant with what they expect.
Andrew has a long standing interest in leadership, training and development.
Andrew's interest in meditation led him to teach others, and his training in being a meditation teacher, was a foundation for creating learning plans that put the learner's perspective first.
At Wharton, Andrew was selected as a Leadership Fellow and Teaching Assistant for Mike Useem and his 1st year Leadership course for MBAs. This then led to the development of the 1st Wharton Leadership Venture in Self Awareness, a one day experiential learning experience that introduced Wharton MBAs to Mindset and Mindfulness training. Andrew continued to be actively involved in the Wharton Leadership Ventures and the Wharton 1st Year Learning Team Program, for more than 7 years.
Upon his entry into financial services in the most volatile period in history, Andrew, found training programs cut short by global realities (ie. 9/11) and went through MBA Private Wealth Associate training programs at Goldman Sachs (Summer Associate), Morgan Stanley (Full Time Private Wealth Associate Program), Bank of America Securities (Associate, Special Hire program) and UBS Wealth Management (Financial Advisor Training Program).
As a result of the various experiences, Andrew went on to create his own program training program for MBA summer internships at UBS, which he created and founded in UBS Wealth Management, Headquarters Branch. He developed and ran this program for 3 years.
When Andrew relocated to Singapore, he worked at UBS as a Desk Head and Sales Manager and was responsible to coach, identify weaknesses in the sales force and develop training solutions to address the learning opportunities.
Andrew did this will passion, as his focus on putting clients first, could always help make training programs more understandable and relevant for participants. In fact, Andrew served as a SME expert in several areas, including, Hedge Funds, Asset Allocation, UBS Four Step Sales process and UBS Investment Philosophy.
When Andrew moved to ANZ, his expertise was used to develop the training program for the sales force, which included developing new programs, in close cooperation with L&D and external partners for: Sales Skills, Listening, Responding to Objections, The Sales Process, among others.
Andrew graduated with an MBA for the Wharton School where he founded the Wharton Yogis student meditation group, which introduced students to meditation and emphasized how to bring the practice into their daily lives. In addition, to serving as a teaching assistant to Michael Useem in the Leadership Foundation Course, Andrew designed and lead the meditation component of the First Year Leadership Retreat in addition to initiating and leading the Wharton Leadership Ventures on Self Awareness based on the teachings of mindfulness. Additionally, Andrew led workshops at Sunningdale Country Club, teaching golfers how to apply meditative techniques while playing golf and at a major corporation at their National Sales Conference. Andrew teaches meditation regularly at various venues throughout the US.
Andrew has been a student of meditation since a very young age. Following on his early interest, after graduating with a BA from The Johns Hopkins University, he dedicated himself full-time to training under the guidance of the Venerable Sayadaw U Pandita, a world-renowned meditation master and teacher for 8 years. During that time he founded a nonprofit (Pandita Foundation), organized meditation retreats, and most importantly, spent significant time in meditation retreats under the guicance of Sayadaw U Pandita.
Andrew continues to practice with the Venerable Sayadaw today, nearly twenty three years later, and has served as an assistant accompanying the Venerable Sayadaw on world teaching tours.
